Surprising the Enemy

Places where you can surprise the enemy
The surprise element can usually tip the scales in your favor at the start of every fight. Generally, if you are able to surprise the enemy, you will usually be "one rocket up" on him even before the actual battle ensues. Thus, it's important to know exactly where every good hiding spot on the level is, so that you can surprise the enemy… and he won't be able to surprise you.

  • Behind the RA (usually on the left side)
A good spot to ambush enemies coming from the GL platform. They can't see you hiding in there (if they are coming from GL) until it's too late. People coming from the short corridor or up the stairs will see you easily, though, so be ready to jump out if you are spotted.

    Behind RA

  • Dark ledge on top of RA
Although this spot is relatively well known nowadays, people still rarely check it. This spot is great to use for fun against average opponents, although the better players will probably recognize the rocket jump sound. The only way to get up to this ledge is to rocket jump up; however, the best time to do it is when you already have the RA, and then do a rocket jump on top of the RA. That way, when you get up to the top, you'll still have 200 armor.

    Dark Ledge

  • On both sides of the wall next to the GL
A great spot to surprise people coming from the RA. Good players are usually wary when coming from the RA to the GL because of this particular ambush spot, but players also oftentimes forget to check. Against less experienced players, this spot works almost every time. When they come out to pick up the GL, smack them with a few rockets, or melt them with your lightning gun. Generally they will be too surprised or shocked to react.

    Next to GL

  • On both sides of the wall as you come around the 2 lightning packs corridor
If your opponent likes to attack from the top a lot, try surprising them here. Enemies rather check this spot, as it leaves the entire bottom side open. However, if you know your opponent is going to be coming up from the GA, you might want to try camping here. It will scare the heck outta him.

    Around the Corner

  • On both sides of the tunnel
A pretty decent spot, although you leave the topside open. Furthermore, if you are not able to kill him when he comes out before he rounds the corner to the RA, he'll be able to get the RA pretty easily.
