Spawns and Hiding

    Spawns Are Your Friends

The spawns spots for E1M2 are in this order:

    1. 100% health room - Below 100% health, in the little crevice

    2. Outside of 100% health room - On top of the health packs

    3. Start area - Next to the nail-gun

    4. Spikes area - Right in the middle of the traps

    5. Quad area - At the doorway of Quad/GL

    6. GL area - At the doorway of Quad/GL

    7. YA area - Next to the health pack

    8. Quad area - On top of the health packs

    9. Green armor area - Next to the door

    10. Rocket launcher area - Next to the rocket launcher

    Running The Spawns

The easiest combination of spawns to remember and run are: 5, 6, and 7. They are in order and very close to each other. If you can get to the next spawn (health packs near quad) quick enough, it should be pretty easy to get the one after, which is the green armor spawn near the door. Yes, I do realize spawn running can be cheap… but can you safely say that your opponent won't kill you if you spawn in front of him? I highly doubt it… my philosophy is, if it's in the game, use it to your advantage. It's very likely you'll be using a mod/patch with randomized spawns (definitely recommended!), in which case memorizing the spawns won't be quite as useful. However, it is still important to know exactly where the spawns are.

    Hiding

Good spots to surprise people at:

    1. Behind the corner at GL

    2. Around the corner near the rocket pack at GL area

    3. Corner with good view of the outside at 100% health ledge

    4. On top of the ceiling at 100% health room

    5. A corner in the RL room

    6. The little crevice to the right of quad

    7. Dark corner next to health packs in the quad area

    8. Perpendicular angle near the spikes at YA area

    9. On top of door at the exit area

    When To Hide

I wouldn't recommend hiding in a spot more than once in a game. Hiding spots are things people tend not to forget. If you catch someone off-guard by ambushing him from a good hiding spot, that obviously puts things in your favor. However, if someone catches you hiding, you'll be put at an even more serious disadvantage. You'll be sitting a duck whereas he's a moving target. The general rule is, use different hiding spots, but never the same one twice. There are people who are really aggressive or really lazy that don't bother checking hiding spots. They may be the exception to the rule.
