When falling from those heights, you not only sustain 5 hit points of damage; you also make a very loud and distinct sound that tells your opponent your exact location. To avoid making that distinct sound and sustaining damage, jump to or drop onto the ledge beneath the picture of the crucifixion, then drop to the ground from there. Remember though, that you will still make a sound when falling, but it is a lot quieter, and also a lot more common of a noise. See demo.
