Quad Stuff
This tactic is more prevalent in free-for-all or team matches or in 1on1 matches where quad is available. When you're waiting for the quad, it is a disadvantage to be standing on the actual ledge where the quad rests. You are vulnerable to enemy fire from all directions. Instead, a cool and safe place to hang out is on top of the pillar next to the quad.

Here's a list reasons why being on top of the pillar is helpful:
- You're on a higher platform, which is an automatic advantage. (As stated in previous chapters of the Quake Bible)
- You are no longer vulnerable to enemy fire coming from the RL area. (An enemy shooting ground from the RL area can hit you when you're standing at the Quad no matter where you are, except if you are on the pillar.)
- You are less vulnerable to enemy fire from the Main Area, since there is less of an angle.
- Sometimes people coming from the RL area don't realize there is someone camping on top of there. If they are facing even slightly downwards, they will not be able to see you.
 What they see.

 What they don't see.

- The only downside to doing this is that you must execute a relatively perfect rocket jump in order to reach the pillar from the ground. You can, however, get up there pretty easily with a rocket jump from the Quad.
Cool Tactic
This works especially well in FFA games, but may be a little risky to do in a team game if you have multiple teammates running around at any given time. The situation: An enemy is chasing you, but as you're running, you notice the quad reappear. Rocket jump to the quad, but as you're in mid-air, fire a rocket behind you back towards the Main area. When you land on the quad, the rocket you fired behind you will turn into a quad rocket. Your unsuspecting opponent will be unpleasantly surprised. See demo.
